PM Scholarship

The Government established the Prime Minister's Athlete Scholarships in late 2000 to ensure athletes were provided with education opportunities to better support their careers after sport. The programme enables emerging and talented New Zealanders to concurrently pursue tertiary study and elite level sport development.
  • The scholarship allows athletes to have their academic fees paid to a maximum of $10,000 per annum and a living allowance of up to $6,000 (if studying more than 0.4 EFTs) per year based on results at PMAS-Qualifying Events (agreed between an NSO and SPARC).
  • To be eligible, applicants must be capable of impacting SPARC’s high performance mission, More New Zealanders winning on the world stage.
